Webinar on "Digital transformation of education in a new environment: Weidong's vision and practices" 31.08.2020 15:59

The webinar on "Digital transformation of education in new conditions: vision and practices from Weidong" was held on August 26 with the participation of the SCO Secretary General Vladimir Norov.

The event was organized by Shanghai Trade & Culture House and the SCOLAR Network youth platform, with the support of the SCO Secretariat and the SCO Business Council Secretariat, to promote mutual exchange of best practices and examples of innovative solutions to the challenges of digitalization of education.

During the webinar, representatives of Weidong Cloud Education shared their vision of creating an inclusive education ecosystem that includes the latest ICT developments, as well as learning management systems with the support of the SCO Secretariat and the SCO Business Council Secretariat.

More than 500 people from more than 22 countries watched the webinar on the Zoom platform and on various social platforms.

The participants discussed the issues of further development of education in the current conditions related to the consequences of the spread of coronavirus infection and the use of opportunities for digital transformation in education in the SCO countries.

Norov noted the severe consequences of the pandemic for the educational sector of the SCO region — more than 767.5 million students throughout the Organization were "outside the walls of educational institutions". It was noted that overcoming difficulties is possible with the continuation of effective mutually beneficial cooperation between Weidong and the SCO member States.

In the main part of the webinar, the audience heard introductory presentations by senior Vice President of Weidong and Chairman of the Demos group (the company's branch in France) Sheng Dai and Zhu Zhiting, who informed the participants about the current activities of the company.

In conclusion, the SCO Secretary General noted the interest of the audience in the topic and the breadth of opportunities for further cooperation.
