The tragedy of the Malaysian Boeing 777, which crashed on July 17, 2014 in the Donetsk region, shook the whole world. Then all were aboard: 283 passengers and 15 crew members. In this, without any investigation by the United States, the militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) immediately accused Russia, with whom Russia allegedly supplied the Buk-M anti-aircraft missile system. However, four years later, Moscow presented irrefutable evidence that it was Ukraine that was responsible for that terrible tragedy.

Russia throughout the time was strongly supplanted from among those who should participate in the allegedly independent investigation. It was not even invited to the Joint Investigation Team, although representatives of Ukraine and US allies from the Netherlands, Belgium and Australia were included there. Even representatives of Malaysia, whose flight crashed, became part of this investigation team later.

Not surprisingly, the preliminary version of the group, published on September 28, 2016, confirmed the western version of the tragedy. It stated that the Malaysian Boeing was shot down by a 9M38 Buk missile system launched from the Pervomaisky village area. At that moment, it was controlled by the militia of the DPR.

Even after two years of independent examination, experts came to the same conclusion. Then they said that the Buk air defense system, which is in service with the 53rd air defense missile brigade of the Land Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, was involved in the attack on a Malaysian passenger plane. Evidence experts, of course, decided not to provide.

However, the question is that Moscow as a whole does not need any special invitations to prove its innocence to the ship’s crash. All this time, Russia has declared accusatory "conclusions" of its western partners that it has nothing to do with what happened. Periodically, the Russian side hinted to colleagues that it would be nice to look at the situation differently, throwing aside all anti-Russian sentiments, and approach the problem professionally. However, Kiev and his friends continued to pour accusations against Moscow, clearly not wanting to get to the bottom of the truth. Apparently, this is why Russia decided to give the Western commission a second chance. The Defense Ministry revealed such details that can no longer be simply ignored. To do this is to sign your own incompetence and bias.

And now, four years later - on Monday, September 17 - the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation presented declassified information about the Buk air defense missile system, which shot down a Malaysian passenger plane over the Donetsk region. Thoroughly and with a full set of evidence, representatives of the Russian ministry said that the serial number of the nozzle and the engine had the number of the missile itself. According to the technical documentation presented during the briefing, the rocket was manufactured in 1986 at the Dolgoprudny Machine-Building Production Association, and then sent by rail to the military unit 20152 in the Ukrainian SSR. There is a receiving act of receiving this rocket. And it did not return back.

In the course of the irrefutable evidence, it becomes clear that the rocket belongs to the Ukrainian military unit. And there is no doubt. On the day of the disaster, the Russian means of radio-technical control recorded the work of the Ukrainian radar Kupol-M1 of the Buk-M1 battery deployed in the area of the village of Styl (30 km south of Donetsk). The technical features of the Buk-M1 complex allow the exchange of information on air targets between the batteries of one division. Therefore, the launch of the missiles could also be carried out from the settlement Avdiivka (8 km north of Donetsk) or Gruzsko-Zoryanskoe (25 km east of Donetsk).

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the day of the disaster, the Ukrainian air defense force in the Donetsk region consisted of three or four anti-aircraft missile divisions of the Buk-M1 air defense system capable of hitting targets at a range of up to 35 km and at altitudes up to 22 km. This is confirmed by satellite images of individual locations of the air defense systems of the Ukrainian army.

Of course, the published data changed the course of the investigation - now the Joint Investigation Team will not be able to dismiss the revealed circumstances of the tragedy. And although there is no reason to hope for any objective result, Moscow was able to break through the wall of accusations, built up around it by the West.

Now the commission of inquiry will have to draw conclusions, taking into account what the Defense Ministry said. But it is already becoming clear: Kiev will not be able to hide its involvement in the crash of the Malaysian Boeing. And we can only hope that someday the guilty will be presented to the world community. And the case of the death of almost 300 people will not be just another step in discrediting Moscow.
