SCO Council of Foreign Ministers discussed the Russian idea of economic space« Back
The Russian initiative on the formation of economic space involving EAEC, SCO and ASEAN was discussed at a meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the results of the meeting.
“We have drawn attention to the initiative of Putin on the prospects for the formation of economic space involving the EAEC, SCO and ASEAN. The idea was accepted with great interest, as it was also perceived with great interest in the framework of ASEAN in Sochi”, - he said.
The SCO includes Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Belarus, Mongolia, India, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan have got observers’ status. In July 2015, the SCO procedure of admission to the organization of India and Pakistan was launched. Chairmanship in the SCO organization at the summit in Ufa was transferred from Russia to Uzbekistan. SCO summit in 2016 will be held June 23-24 in Tashkent.
