Russia and China signed a memorandum on supporting the project of gas supplies from Iran to India« Back
The signed memorandum is aimed at the implementation of projects related to gas production in Iran and the supply of this resource to India through the exclusive economic zone of Pakistan along the bottom of the Persian Gulf. As Minister of Energy Novak said, "This is a major infrastructure project, it is currently being worked out actively, bilateral agreements are being concluded, and I think that it is quite real so that in the near future it enters the practical plane."
Novak said that Gazprom plans to produce gas in Iran and build a gas pipeline to India with a length of 1.2 thousand kilometers with a tap. Specific deposits in Iran will be determined as part of the feasibility study for the project.
Earlier, Gazprom's deputy chairman of the board, Alexander Medvedev, said the company was discussing gas supplies to India. He noted that the use of exchange transactions involving China and Iran is not excluded.
