Nursultan Nazarbayev: EAEU market should serve as a link between East and West 31.05.2016 17:19

Implementation of the EAEU goals serves as a powerful impetus for further development of the economies of the Union member countries.

President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan made the announcement today at the enlarged session of the Supreme Eurasian Council.

“The convergence of our economies is proceeding in accordance with the plans and deadlines that have been identified. Government and business accumulate the necessary experience in cooperation with each other. I am confident that the implementation of the objectives and principles of our union will serve as a powerful impetus for the development of the economies of our countries”, - said Nursultan Nazarbayev.

In general, the head of state noted that “today the EAEU is held as a full-fledged integration association”.

He also recalled that, on his proposal, as chairman of the EAEU, 2016 was declared the year of deepening economic relations of the Union with third countries and key integration associations. In particular, according to Nazarbayev, the first agreement between the EAEU with Vietnam was signed last year.

“Today we have discussed in private the issues of cooperation with China, India, Israel, Egypt, Iran, Cambodia and many other countries. Separately the possibility of establishing trade and economic relations with the EAEC integration organizations such as the European Union, SCO, ASEAN and others is considered. Thus the combined market of the Eurasian Economic Union should become a bridge between East and West, North and South”, - said Kazakh President.
