Expert on accession of Uzbekistan to the EAEU« Back
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev decided to study the issue of joining the republic to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This was stated by the speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko at a meeting with the chairman of the legislative chamber of the parliament of Uzbekistan Nurdinjon Ismoilov.
Matvienko expressed hope that the coordination process would not be delayed so that the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan had the opportunity to cooperate within the framework of the union. According to her, the entry of Uzbekistan into the EAEU will provide new opportunities for bilateral cooperation and remove certain barriers and barriers that exist in relations between the two countries.
Commenting on this information, orientalist Dmitry Kosyrev noted that the EAEU would only benefit from this step.
“Uzbekistan will also win. Until recently, Tashkent blocked, for example, about half of the initiatives in the SCO, thereby demonstrating its attitude towards Eurasian integration. Now, the accession of Uzbekistan to the EAEU is already more technical in nature and is due to purely economic reasons. This is a very beneficial solution for Tashkent, as the Uzbeks clearly see the benefits of their neighbors, members of the EAEU”, Kosyrev said.
On the other hand, according to him, it becomes obvious that integration trends in Eurasia are going in the right direction.
Touching on the relations between Moscow and Tashkent in this context, the expert drew attention to the fact that in Russian-Uzbek relations "bilateral trade will grow, but the results will appear in two years".
