The delegation of the SCO Secretariat headed by Deputy Secretary General A. Nosirov took part in the Eurasian Economic Forum (EAEF-2017) in Xi'an (Shaanxi Province, China) on September 21-22, 2017. Guests from foreign countries, representatives of international organizations, scientific and business circles from more than 40 countries and regions of the world also arrived at the Forum.

Vice-Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Wang Yang spoke at the opening ceremony. He noted the general mood of the participants to discuss the process of linking the economies of the countries with the "Belt and Path" initiative. Importance is attached to the Agreement on the creation of favorable conditions for international road transport, customs and banking cooperation, as well as to deepen cooperation in the field of electronic commerce signed within the framework of the SCO. In particular, Wang Yang proposed the creation of the Association for Electronic Commerce of the SCO member states.

In the afternoon, a round table was held among the leaders of the regions of the SCO member states on the topic: "Interregional cooperation: promoting the integration of national development strategies".

A.Nosirov read the welcome address of SCO Secretary-General R. Alimov to the participants of the round table, which noted the importance of establishing closer ties between the regions of the Organization, which is an important component of the efforts of countries to build mutually beneficial trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

"Interregional cooperation is becoming an increasingly important factor in the practical interaction of the economy within the framework of the SCO, making a significant contribution to strengthening good-neighborliness, friendship, mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation and cultural and humanitarian exchange," the SCO Secretary-General stressed.

The participants exchanged views on the prospective areas of economic cooperation between the regions of the SCO member states. Proposals aimed at expanding business cooperation in various spheres of the economy are sounded.

Noting the initiative to create a "Forum of Heads of Regions", the round table participants agreed on the need to seek new forms, directions and tools for cooperation at the interregional level.

The strategic points of growth and development of interregional cooperation, interpenetration of regional economies, as well as the structure and mechanism of interaction were noted in the speeches of Chinese, Kazakh and Russian delegations.

Within the framework of the round table there was also a protocol meeting of the Deputy Secretary General of the SCO A. Nosirov with the Deputy People's Government of Shaanxi Province Wei Zengjun.

The Eurasian Economic Forum is a platform for international economic cooperation in the space of Eurasia, where the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization are geographically. The forum is held constantly in Xi'an every two years, starting in 2005. At present, the EAEA has become China's business card, an important trade and economic event, a "window" of the western regions of China to the outside world, an attractive platform for establishing trade and economic contacts between the countries along the Great Silk Road.

The topic of further strengthening and development of multifaceted cooperation between the regions and the administrative and territorial units of the association's participants is laid down in the Astana Declaration of the SCO adopted by the heads of state at the end of the summit on June 9, 2017.
