China will maintain air links with Russia and continue joint struggle with the pandemic« Back
According to the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Zhao Lijiang, the Chinese authorities will continue to interact with Russia and take measures to maintain regular air traffic between the two countries in a pandemic, reports TASS.
The diplomat stressed that China is not limited to fighting COVID-2019 in its own territory and is actively helping other states, including Russia. He recalled that recently a group of medical specialists from China arrived in the Russian Federation.
The Chinese authorities are in favor of maintaining the leading role of the World Health Organization (WHO) and support Moscow’s position on the unacceptability of politicizing the fight against the pandemic by individual countries.
Commenting on the US criticism of WHO and the position of Russia, which condemns the attempts of individual countries to shift the responsibility for their own difficult epidemiological situation to other states, Lijiang noted that the international community should unite, overcome differences and together answer this challenge.
One should avoid politicizing the problem of countering the pandemic, stop blaming others for their own difficulties, escalating contradictions, the diplomat concluded.
According to China’s Central Television, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian leader Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation on the evening of April 16, TASS reports.
The head of the Chinese state said that Moscow and Beijing should resist the politicization of the pandemic and the "hanging labels", as they will not benefit international cooperation.
Countries should work together to protect the global health system. The Chinese side will continue to provide strong support and assistance to Russia in the fight against the spread of COVID-2019. A party of humanitarian aid has already been delivered to the country. Beijing helps Russia procure medical supplies in China.
