China respects the choice of Russians to vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation« Back
According to Chinese foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian, Beijing respects the choice made by Russians during the all-Russian vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, TASS reports.
The diplomat stressed that the vote, being one of the most important events in the Russian political calendar, passed smoothly. The results published by the Central election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation reflect the choice of citizens.
As a friendly neighbor of the Russian Federation and a comprehensive strategic partner, China supports Russia's efforts to achieve stable and sustainable socio-economic development.
"We are ready to work with the Russian side on the basis of consensus, deepen strategic coordination and build mutually beneficial cooperation," concluded the representative of the Chinese foreign Ministry.
Recall that throughout Russia at 21:00 Moscow time on Wednesday, voting on amendments to the Constitution ended. The CEC has already processed 100% of the ballots. 77.92% of Russians voted for the amendments and 21.27% against them. Overall turnout was 65%.
To counteract the spread of coronavirus infection, the all-Russian vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation was held from June 25 to July 1, the last day being the main one.
